Hogwarts Pooh Style

I got to thinking about Harry Potter and that Hogwarts hat that sorts the kids into different houses... Pooh would be a Slytherian for sure, just think about his obsessive greed for more and more honey.

This was a quick snap in low light with my camera phone... sorry for the low quality. It was a mail art post card sent off to a special someone.

Crest Coloring Job

Here is a work in progress... folks gave me an old xeroxed copy of their family crest that was so seriously faided he had to try to remember what colors he thought they had been. So my work here was mostly doing enhansement and coloring.

the project is going to become am image on a tote bag for their upcoming family reunion.

Company Outing Artwork

My last work was signs for a company outing around a carnival theme. This one I enjoyed and was a quickie made with what ever art supplies I could find in the office.

Tweety Angel and Life's Goals

planning on doing a bike marathon in honor of my passed mother and this will be the sign on the back of my bicycle. My mother was an artist and blessed me with the joy of art. She was also a huge tweety fan... thus the angel.

I got to be a guest teaching a local Girl Scout troop (the young group… “Daisies” I think) some cartooning. I never really knew this was one of my life’s goals until I did it. I think it stems from two parts.

1) it is uber cool to be sincerely appreciated by a kindergardener.
2) To pass on a bit of some of the joy I have for cartooning to kids… it’s not something I thought was going to be so moving. Maybe it’s like I’ve gone from student to master in a way finally or something? It was almost the feeling of selling my art to someone I really respected for the first time. Maybe it just brought back so many memories of how much pure joy art has been for me since I was 6 or 10 too.

Star Trek Fan Fiction Art

Most of this art is pure cut and paste and blend stuff. I moved the warp nacelles in, removed the sensor array, and added a nebula background as well as my own “ship” name. The original fan blueprint was “uss Aachen by Andrew Marsden” I want to give him due credit.

I plan on using this image I’ve modified to make my own in writing some Star Trek fan fiction. If you’ve never heard of “Fan Fiction” it’s where fan’s write stories that happen in and around the universe and sometimes with the characters of their favorite stories for fun. If you google something like “Harry Potter Fan Fiction” you could find enough stuff to read for the rest of your life. I think some fan fiction that people write is incredible. Yet much of it is ruff, many times unfinished… and sometimes the subject matter gets rather strange… to put it politely much of it is great but some of it is not for kids or Christian tastes.

Again, some of it is great. My own I have written part of a Harry Potter book, a whole series of Star Trek episodes that take place on another ship with another crew, even some writing around a miniature game. It’s a fun creative outlet. If you ever try it, remember that you may never sell it. Your playing in the creative sandbox of another author. Characters like Harry Potter are really hers… she just sort of lets us play with them a bit for fun.

My new ship is actually a very old ship refitted to test out alternative power after the Dominion War (think after the end of Star Trek Deep Space Nine… Which was my favorite Trek by the way)

The Digital Gypsy

Thanks to Loretta S… a friend to this vagabond artist, I now own and have used to create this *COMPLETELY* digitally made artwork from start to finish on my nifty and downright swell gift of a digital drawing tablet.

That’s right folks here is the DISCLAIMER: no actual pen, pencil, or paper was harmed in the making of this artwork!!!

The artwork was made completely in Procreate Painter Classic. The art looks a bit four year old because this is my VERY FIRST work completely digital and I’m on the learning curve on a tablet.

Next stop… world domination!
